Description
A conical head may be supplied as a straight cone, a flanged cone with a large-end knuckle, or a form with transitions at both ends. Conical Tank Heads can be made from carbon steel, stainless steel, SA516 Gr70, or SA516 Gr60. Production may involve pressing, spinning, rolling, and controlled welding, depending on diameter, thickness, angle, and whether the head is made in one piece or sections. The finished cone can include a small-end neck, outlet, bevels, reinforcement, wear plates, or internal surface treatment. Smooth internal transitions are useful where powders, crystals, or liquids need a directed discharge path.

Components
A conical shell section establishes the selected discharge angle.
The large-end knuckle joins the cone to the vessel-side flange.
A small-end transition is included where the CHA(60) arrangement is specified.
Outlet necks, reinforcement, wear liners, and lifting marks may be added to Conical Tank Heads according to the equipment drawing.

Our Services
Cone angle, large diameter, small diameter, radii, thickness, and flange heights can be reviewed together.
Cutting, rolling, spinning, shaping, beveling, and welding can be combined in one manufacturing plan.
Outlet necks and loose or welded reinforcement parts can be supplied.
Dimensional inspection and specified non-destructive examination can be arranged.
Internal cleaning, polishing, or coating preparation is available where the selected material permits it, including surfaces near the outlet.
Packing supports and shipping marks can follow the installation orientation.
The outlet side can also be marked clearly so the cone is not rotated incorrectly during shop assembly.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Which cone angle should be selected?
A: The process designer should consider material flow, available height, outlet size, structural calculation, and cleaning access.
Q: Can the small end include a straight neck?
A: Yes. Diameter, length, thickness, bevel, and reinforcement should be stated on the drawing.
Q: What is needed to quote Conical Tank Heads?
A: Provide both diameters, angle, material, thickness, radii, flange heights, outlet details, quantity, standard, and inspection requirements.
